Attempts by the West to Dissent Armenia and Russia Are Doomed to Fail: Lavrov
Attempts by the West to dissent Armenia and Russia are doomed to fail. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
“We see the blatant attempts of Western countries to drive a wedge between Russia and Armenia (let's call things by their names), as well as to undermine the architecture of regional security, while caring not about the interests of the countries here, but rather their geopolitical interests,” he said.
Lavrov noted that during their private conversation with Mirzoyan, they discussed in detail the ways to achieve the unblocking of Lachin, as well as the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“We have emphasized the necessity of resuming negotiations promptly across all areas of the tripartite agreements. Significant work has been done regarding the unblocking of transport and economic communications. We hope that the deputy prime ministers and participants of the trilateral working group will reach specific agreements,” said the Russian Foreign Minister.
He also mentioned that they are in favor of intensifying the delimitation work of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border with Russia's consultation, within the frameworks of the agreements determined by the leaders of the countries. Additionally, Russia is prepared to further cooperate on the issue of signing a peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku.
