Turkey's Earthquakes Cause $105 Billion in Damages

The material damages caused by the earthquakes in southeastern Turkey amount to 2 trillion Turkish lira (over $105 billion). This information was reported by TRT Haber, citing Turkey's Minister of Finance.

"This shows that we have nearly six times more damage and loss compared to the earthquakes that occurred in the Marmara region in 1999. This figure corresponds to 9 percent of the expected national income for 2023," the statement mentioned.

Recall that on February 6, at 05:17 AM, an earthquake struck the Kahramanmaraş province of Turkey, leading to devastation in several cities. Two additional strong earthquakes were recorded at 14:24 and 14:36 Armenian time. The intensity of the underground tremors in the epicentral area was rated between 10-11 magnitudes.

Approximately 50,000 people have lost their lives due to the earthquakes in Turkey.
