‘I Was Ready to Go to Milan, He Didn’t Want to Meet’: Armenia’s Head Coach on Mkhitaryan
Armenia’s national team head coach Alexander Petrakov has been attempting to establish contact with Henrikh Mkhitaryan from the very first day, but to no avail.
At a press conference today, he stated that various sources informed him that Mkhitaryan is unwilling to reconsider his decision to retire from the national team.
“I asked my assistant Roman Berezovsky to reach out to him and understand his stance, but Mkhitaryan told Berezovsky that he has already made his decision and does not intend to change it. I believe we must respect Henrikh's decision; he is a unique footballer for Armenia. I do not know him personally, but considering the opinions of many people, I have heard he is a very good man and a great player,” said Petrakov.
The head coach of the Armenian national team requested a separate meeting with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but Mkhitaryan was not interested.
“I was ready to go to Milan just to chat, but he didn’t want to meet,” noted Alexander Petrakov.
