Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan to Assume Mayor's Responsibilities

Yerevan's former mayor Hrachya Sargsyan will be replaced by Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan. This was stated by Davit Khajakyan, the leader of the 'Luyis' faction of the Yerevan City Council, in an interview with NEWS.am.

"Levon Hovhannisyan is considered a member of the council under the local self-government law in Yerevan, and he will fully continue to carry out the responsibilities of the mayor. In this regard, we will not have a governance crisis in the city. From this moment on, the duties of the mayor, in full scope, will be performed by Levon Hovhannisyan," Khajakyan said.

Furthermore, Taron Gevorgyan, the Deputy Head of the Public Relations Department of the Yerevan Municipality, mentioned in an interview that the mayor's duties are placed on the deputy mayor until the council elects a new mayor from its ranks.
