VIDEO: Police Use Tear Gas Against Protesters in Paris
French police have deployed water cannons and tear gas against protesters in Paris. According to Reuters, approximately 7,000 people gathered for a demonstration against the government's pension reforms at the Place de la Concorde.
A Reuters journalist witnessed protesters throwing cobblestones at police, who are accused by the groups of attempting to disperse the crowd.
Earlier today, French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne announced that her government will implement the reforms using a special constitutional provision, as they cannot gain the necessary support from the opposition conservative Les Republicains party.
The protests erupted following President Macron's decision to raise the retirement age without parliamentary approval.
