“There Are Scared Military Officials”: Kocharian Reveals Who Refused to Attend the National Assembly
National Assembly member Andranik Kocharian expressed regret that representatives from the opposition consistently miss the sessions of the investigative committee examining the circumstances of the 44-day war. He made this statement during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly today.
“There are military officials who are scared; for example, Tiran Khachaturyan, who publicly refused to attend the meeting. I invited Vardan Oskanian regarding foreign policy issues, but he also declined. However, we will send him another invitation because he needs to come during discussions related to Artsakh, as many questions will be addressed regarding the actions taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he noted.
The committee chairman also informed that an invitation has been sent to the former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, Jalah Harutyunyan, and expressed hope that he would accept the invitation, unlike Movses Hakobyan (former head of the Armed Forces General Staff), to whom another invitation will also be sent.
It is important to remember that the investigative committee was established in February 2022 to study the circumstances of the military actions unleashed on September 27, 2020. In October, the term of the committee's activities was extended for another six months.
Today, former head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Onik Gasparyan, attended the session of the investigative committee examining the circumstances of the 44-day war.
