The US May Intervene in Ukraine Conflict if Kiev Faces Visible Defeat, Hersh Says

The United States is considering the option of direct intervention in Ukraine's military operations if there are visible prospects of defeat for Kiev during the Russian special military operation. This information was presented on Tuesday by the famous American journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh, who specializes in investigative journalism, according to TASS.

“I’m being told that the game will be like this: ‘This is NATO; we support NATO in offensive operations against the Russians’... We’re at war against the Russians,” said Hersh, who has strong connections within the US military and intelligence agencies, while speaking at an event organized by the American non-governmental organization ‘Committee of the Republic’ without disclosing the specific sources of his information.

In this context, the journalist recalled the defeat of the Nazis by Soviet troops near Stalingrad: “Come on, do we really want to fight these guys? I don’t think so,” he stated.

“I don’t think we are ready, but I don’t know,” Hersh added.

It is noteworthy that on February 8, Hersh published an article stating that the explosions of the ‘Nord Stream’ and ‘Nord Stream 2’ gas pipelines were a secret operation by the US, carried out with the knowledge and agreement of President Joe Biden after several months of debate within the Washington administration with a narrow circle of insiders involved. The White House labeled the journalist’s claims about the events as “complete lies and total fabrication.”

“We are probably just fooling ourselves about what is happening there and what the outcomes will be,” Hersh remarked. At the same time, he emphasized that Russia has not yet deployed its “main forces” during the special military operation.

Additionally, while discussing the threat of direct confrontation between the US and Russia based on Washington’s plans, he specifically mentioned the formations of the American ground forces, the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, which have been stationed in Europe. “We’re talking about brigades, not battalions, but brigades,” Hersh stated.
