Taliban Prohibits Women from Using Cosmetics
The Taliban-controlled interim government of Afghanistan, responsible for the promotion of virtue and prevention of vice, has imposed several restrictions on women's beauty salons in Parwan province. This was reported by the Afghan newspaper Hasht-e Subh on Tuesday.
“Makeup that causes moral decay should not be used,” states a decree from the Taliban. The document explains that women hairstylists must adhere to Islamic laws.
Additionally, women's salons are instructed to re-equip their spaces with areas designated for washing. Since taking power in August 2021, the Taliban has continually imposed more restrictions on women. They are barred from visiting parks, gyms, and public baths. The primary restrictions relate to prohibitions on attending secondary schools and studying in universities.
