Alen Simonean Presents Post-War Situation and Humanitarian Issues in Bahrain

The Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonean, presented the post-war situation following the 44-day conflict to his colleagues at the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly dedicated to peace and security held in Bahrain. This information has been reported by the National Assembly's press service.

During discussions with the leaders of various parliaments, Simonean highlighted Azerbaijan's anti-Armenian propaganda and instances of incursions into Armenian sovereign territory.

"Discussions were held with the President of the Belgian Senate, Stephanie D'Orazio, regarding the unresolved humanitarian issues concerning the blockade of Armenians in Artsakh," the statement said.

It was noted that the President of the Hungarian National Assembly, Laszlo Kover, inquired about the crisis resulting from the Lachin corridor's status, and results of raising this issue on various international platforms were also discussed. The Speaker of the National Assembly also met with the head of the Egyptian parliament.

It should be noted that the delegation headed by Alen Simonean traveled to Bahrain on March 11 to participate in the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The 11-member delegation also includes members of the ruling party's faction, Hasmik Hakobyan and Tsovinar Vardanyan. They will be in Manama (Kingdom of Bahrain) until March 15.

During this time, the responsibilities of the Speaker of the National Assembly will be temporarily fulfilled by Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan.
