VIDEO: Former MP Gevorg Petrosyan Arrested
Former Armenian National Assembly MP Gevorg Petrosyan has been arrested. He himself announced this news.
“Dear compatriots, I was arrested today, this was also needed to see... with a ridiculous article...” he wrote on his Facebook page.
Attorney Raffi Aslanyan provided details regarding Petrosyan's arrest. “Gevorg Petrosyan, a lecturer at Yerevan State University, associate professor of civil law, lawyer, and former MP, was arrested on direct suspicion of using violence against police officers in order to interfere with their lawful activities. The video evidence related to the incident clearly shows that the actions depicted do not correspond with the characteristics of the crime attributed to Petrosyan. Specifically, police officers abruptly stopped Petrosyan's vehicle without justification, attempting to remove him from the car without referencing any violations. They claimed he was driving irregularly, thus Petrosyan, cautiously navigating around them, continued to drive to the courtyard of his building located several hundred meters away, intending to clarify the dubious pursuit on site.
I leave the assessment of the situation and the underlying context of it allegedly being categorized as violence to everyone's reasonable judgment.
