Armenia Deliberately Avoiding Signing of Peace Agreement and Trying to Buy Time, Hajiyev
Armenia is deliberately avoiding the signing of a peace agreement and is trying to buy time. This was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.
He also noted that the rights and security of Armenians living in Karabakh are an internal matter for Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan will not discuss issues related to its sovereignty with other parties, including the Republic of Armenia.
“The Karabakh conflict is resolved, Karabakh is part of Azerbaijani territory, and for Azerbaijan, the issue of Karabakh is off the international agenda. The rights and security of Armenians living in Karabakh will be determined in accordance with Azerbaijan's Constitution and laws. No special privileges are expected for Armenian residents,” Hajiyev stated.
It is worth mentioning that the government of the Republic of Armenia, represented by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan, has repeatedly stated the importance of the peace agreement and their readiness to sign it, of course under the mandatory condition that the peace agreement must serve as a guarantee of real peace and security.
