VIDEO: Belgian Farmers Again Block Central Brussels with Tractors
A large number of European farmers have initiated a protest in Brussels. Hundreds of farmers took to the streets with tractors as a sign of discontent. They are opposing the policies that aim to eliminate farmers, drive them into bankruptcy, and seize their lands.
Just a week ago, they had again blocked the central streets of the city, demanding the cancellation of a plan that involves closing dozens of farms. The organizers of the protest assert that more than 3,000 tractors are participating in the action in the capital, while police counted 2,700 at noon.
The protests have been sparked by the so-called 'Nitrogen Plan' developed by the Flemish government. This plan aims to close over 40 farms by 2025 for environmental protection reasons, in compliance with EU requirements.
