Events in Georgia Could Threaten Stability and Security in the South Caucasus: South Ossetian Foreign Ministry

Events unfolding in Georgia may pose a threat to stability and security in the South Caucasus, stated the South Ossetian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by RIA Novosti.

The Foreign Ministry clarified that it is closely monitoring the situation in Georgia.

“It is evident that the developing serious domestic political crisis, which has once again been instigated by its Western curators and so-called 'friends', could pose a threat to the stability and security of the entire South Caucasus region,” emphasized the ministry.

As noted by the diplomats, the evidence of this lies in the slogans of the protesters, who have begun calling for a new campaign against South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The Foreign Ministry pointed out that for many years, the West has supported the Georgian opposition, using it for its own interests.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the events in Georgia are “orchestrated” from abroad.
