Azerbaijan Sends Protest Note to Iran and Expects Response: Hajiyev

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has sent a protest note to the Iranian Embassy in Baku, seeking clarification about the whereabouts of Azerbaijani citizen Farid Safarli in that country, stated the head of the Foreign Ministry's press service, Ayhan Hajiyev.

According to him, "Information has circulated that Azerbaijani citizen Farid Gabil oglu Safarli, a student at the University of Jena in Germany, born in 1997, traveled to the Islamic Republic of Iran on February 20, but has been unaccounted for since March 4. A request regarding this issue was received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 9, 2023."

It has been reported that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects a response from the Iranian Embassy in Baku for clarifying this information.

In addition, Hajiyev also mentioned that following the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran, it is advised that Azerbaijani citizens do not visit the Islamic Republic of Iran without urgent necessity.
