Ararat Mirzoyan's Assault Case Overseen by Prosecutor Involved in March 1 Case

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that Gorik Hovakimyan has been appointed as the supervising prosecutor for the case involving the assault on the current Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan. Notably, he was previously involved in the "March 1" case.

According to "Zhoghovurd," one of the individuals injured during the March 1 events has provided testimony against Hovakimyan, claiming that he was subjected to violence in Hovakimyan's office, which has become a subject of investigation, although the case was later dismissed.

It is worth mentioning that in 2018, Hovakimyan was questioned as a witness by the Special Investigative Service, now part of the Anti-Corruption Committee.

This incident refers to the event on the morning of November 9, 2020, when a large number of people assaulted the head of parliament, Ararat Mirzoyan, in front of the National Assembly. The former Speaker of the National Assembly was hospitalized and underwent surgery due to the injuries sustained during the assault.

Three years after the incident, the investigative body recently arrested two individuals who deny having assaulted Mirzoyan.
