Armenian Director Arthur Aristakisyan Arrested at Vnukovo Airport

Director Arthur Aristakisyan has been arrested at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport, according to Говорит НеМосква.

Aristakisyan teaches at the New Cinema School in Moscow and at the Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences of the Moscow International University. He was due to fly to Istanbul for a vacation today. After passing through passport control, he was taken away by police along with his personal belongings and phone, friends of Aristakisyan reported.

The reason for the arrest remains unknown, but acquaintances of the director suggest it may be related to his anti-war publications.

Reports indicate that Aristakisyan is currently being taken to the police station of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Begovaya district. Neighbors of the director also recounted that around 6 AM, the police attempted to enter his apartment and threatened to break down the door; however, the man was not at home.
