Better to Step Away One Step Early than Two Steps Late: Mkhitaryan on the Probability of Returning to the Armenian National Team
Former captain of the Armenian national team and midfielder for Milan's Inter, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, discussed the likelihood of returning to the national team in an exclusive interview with 'Profootball'.
“Will I play my 96th match for the national team? Unfortunately, I don’t think so. I do not regret my decision. I have always made my decisions with a clear mind and a calm heart, even though it was very difficult to make that choice. I believe it is better to finish your career one step early than two steps late. This was a moment when I felt that it was time. I will probably talk in detail about the problems and details after my football career ends, even though it may be interesting to everyone now. It would be better to discuss it later. I will explain and share everything. The only thing I can say is to wish success to my country’s national team, to achieve success in both the matches against Turkey and the rest. It is time for a new, young generation to take responsibility and lead the national team. We have seen that the last matches were very difficult, but with the coach's arrival, I hope everything will get better, and our guys will perform with honor and responsibility,” Mkhitaryan said.
