Biden and Scholz Discuss Aid to Ukraine and Anti-Russian Sanctions at the White House
U.S. President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz discussed aid to Ukraine and the implementation of anti-Russian measures during a meeting in Washington. This information was provided in a statement released by the White House.
“The leaders discussed ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian, economic, and political assistance to Ukraine and ensure its security, as well as the importance of maintaining global solidarity with the Ukrainian people. They reaffirmed their readiness to hold Russia accountable for its aggression for as long as necessary,” the statement said.
It was reported that Biden praised Germany for exerting pressure on Russia and supporting Ukraine. “You have made historic changes at home by increasing defense spending and moving away from Russian energy sources. I know that this wasn't easy. It has been very difficult for you,” he stated.
Scholz, for his part, emphasized the importance of close cooperation with the United States. “I consider it very important that we understand we will continue to do this for as long as is required and as long as it is necessary,” said the German Chancellor.
