Baku Exchanging Peace Negotiation Proposals with Yerevan Online, Bayramov

Azerbaijan has transitioned to "online diplomacy" with Armenia concerning the framework for peace negotiations, stated Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, as reported by Azerbaijani media.

"Now, if one can put it this way, we have moved to online diplomacy in this field. We exchange our terms with each other. But time will tell how effective this will be," he said.

According to Bayramov, the opening of a checkpoint on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border in the Lachin region will reduce tensions in the area. "Everyone will see that traffic along the Lachin road is conducted in accordance with the requirements of the trilateral statement," he noted.

He mentioned that the proposal to establish checkpoints has been perceived by Azerbaijan's international partners as constructive and healthy.

"The second point is that there are major contradictions in Armenia's approaches. The contradiction is that Armenia, on the one hand, raises the issue on all international platforms to exert pressure on Azerbaijan, while on the other hand, when Armenia is offered constructive dialogue, it unjustifiably avoids it," Bayramov stated.

It is noteworthy that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on February 16 during a government meeting that Yerevan has completed another phase of work on a peace treaty with Baku, handing over its proposals to the Azerbaijani side. He added that this concerns a draft of a comprehensive agreement. The document has also been sent to the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group.
