Armenia Becomes Mars Research Center: Astronauts to Conduct Exercises in Armenian Mountains
For one month, Armenia will transform into a center for Mars research. Astronauts expect that more than 250 international researchers will provide scientific support for the mission. This was reported by the Austrian scientific website Futurezone.at.
It is mentioned that Armenia will serve as a simulation site for Mars planetary research.
“This is our 14th modeling,” said Gernot Gyrmer, director of the Forum, during a press conference in Vienna on Wednesday.
The training in Armenia will take place in high-altitude rocky areas that resemble the Martian terrain. “Armenia is the geological twin of the Red Planet,” Gyrmer stated.
The mission crew has already been determined. Astronauts from Austria, Germany, Israel, Italy, and Great Britain will arrive in Armenia, consisting of 2 women and 4 men.
