The Officer Was Not Thrown Down, He Jumped Down Out of Fear: A Villager Reveals Details
It had been reported that an extraordinary incident occurred in the village of Karbi, part of the enlarged community of Ashtarak. An officer attempted to break into an apartment to commit theft, but the residents managed to thwart his intrusion.
According to the police, the call about a residential burglary was received from Karbi yesterday, and shortly after midnight, a man born in 1987 was taken to the "Ashtarak" medical center, accompanied by police officers.
Today, some details about the incident were disclosed to hraparak.am. One of the villagers recounted that the officer, aiming to steal, entered a two-story house through a window. He was already aware that the house members were not home, having been invited to a wedding in another community. The neighbors "caught" the officer during the theft, and the claim that he was thrown from the second floor is false. "They didn't touch him, oh boy, he jumped down out of fear, he jumped and broke his leg. They even called an ambulance. We knew him; none of us wanted anything bad to happen to him, but he took that step..." said the interlocutor, noting that the 36-year-old man, although a villager, works as an officer in the Shirak region.
The police provided an update regarding the incident: "Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ashtarak Division of the Aragatsotn Regional Police, in collaboration with investigators of the Aragatsotn Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, have obtained new data regarding the thefts committed by R. Hayrapetyan. Under pressure of evidence, he confessed to 9 episodes of theft that he committed in the villages of Karbi and Ohanejavan. R. H. previously worked in the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia."
