The Economic Growth of Armenia is Partially Driven by the Activities of Russian Immigrants, Says Nikol Pashinyan

The 12.5% economic growth recorded in Armenia in 2022 is partially attributed to the activities of Russian immigrants. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a discussion at the German Council on Foreign Relations.

Pashinyan emphasized that most of the Russians arriving in Armenia are employees in the IT sector. “I think this has happened because of certain technical issues, as they are typically paid by Western organizations. Probably, after the sanctions, they were unable to receive their salaries and decided to move to Armenia. Maybe they fell in love with our country. And, frankly, we are glad to have them here, as it creates additional economic activity in our country,” Pashinyan said.

It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister traveled to Berlin with his wife, Anna Hakobyan, and daughter, Shushan Pashinyan. He has already met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
