Armenia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and China Ship Sanctioned Goods to Russia

The U.S. Departments of Justice, Commerce, and Treasury have jointly announced that several countries are exporting goods banned by sanctions to Russia.

The statement specifically mentions that "Turkey, Armenia, Uzbekistan, and China have been utilized to send prohibited goods to Russia or Belarus." This information comes from Ermenihaber.

The U.S. government has urged companies to exercise caution regarding the enforcement of sanctions against Russia, adding that otherwise, violators will face consequences.

According to Washington, formal companies, pseudonyms, vague information regarding shipments, and more have been used to circumvent sanctions.

It is noteworthy that following the imposition of economic sanctions against Russia due to the Ukraine war, trade turnover between Turkey and Russia has seen an unprecedented increase. In 2022, Russia’s exports to Turkey increased by more than 100%, while Turkey’s exports to Russia rose by more than 60%.

Russia has surpassed China to become Turkey's largest supplier, with a figure of $58.8 billion.
