17 and 18-Year-Olds Threaten a Russian Citizen with a Knife and Rob Him in Yerevan
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has revealed significant details regarding the robbery committed against a foreign citizen by two minors in the administrative districts of Erebuni and Nubarashen.
According to the committee, on March 2, 2023, a Russian citizen reported to the Erebuni police station that at around 17:35 that day, two males threatened him with a knife in front of the elevator of a building on M. Khorenatsi Street in Yerevan. They stole his iPhone and a handbag containing bank cards and a work permit for Armenia, causing him substantial property damage.
Based on the incident, criminal proceedings have been initiated under points 3 and 5 of part 2 of Article 252 of the RA Criminal Code. The individual who filed the report has been recognized as the victim, and an examination of the crime scene has been conducted with his participation. The Erebuni Police have been assigned a task to carry out operational-search activities.
As a result of immediate measures, two young men, born in December 2005 and February 2006, residents of Yerevan and Ararat region, were arrested based on reasonable suspicion of having committed the crime. During a personal search of one of them, a knife and the mobile phone stolen from the victim were found. One of the minors has also provided a confession, detailing the actions they took.
Forensic examinations have been appointed, and investigative and evidentiary actions are ongoing.
