On March 2, Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan visited the southeastern border zone of the Republic and toured the combat positions. The commander of the military unit on combat duty presented the situation on the frontlines. The commander of the military formation reported to the Minister regarding the large-scale engineering and fortification works carried out along the border zone.

Minister Papikyan spoke with the conscript personnel stationed on the front lines, wishing the defenders of the homeland a vigilant and safe service.

Later, the Minister visited a new permanent deployment site under construction for one of the subordinate units of the military unit, toured the construction site, and monitored the construction works. The military base will be equipped with comfortable barracks, command, logistics, and dining facilities, as well as separate-purpose infrastructure.

Suren Papikyan instructed the responsible persons for the construction to pay special attention to safety standards for the buildings, the storage areas for military equipment and weapons, and to strictly adhere to the construction specifications of the buildings. The military unit is expected to be operational in the second half of this year.
