Earthquakes in Turkey Lead to Decrease in Tourism Demand
The earthquakes in Turkey have led to a decrease in the demand for vacations in the country. However, it is expected that the flow of tourists from the Russian Federation will recover before the summer season. This is reported by Izvestia.
“Of course, there is a certain decline in the tourism sector. Although the favorite vacation spots for Russians in Turkey have not been significantly affected overall. I believe that the traditional tourist flow for family vacations from citizens of the Russian Federation will undoubtedly regain its positions by summer,” said Alexey Egarmin, director of the Russian-Turkish Business Council (RTBC).
It should be recalled that on February 6, two powerful earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6 struck Turkey. The disaster zone has affected 11 provinces in the country and northern regions of Syria. According to the latest data, the number of disaster victims has exceeded 50,000.
