VIDEO: First Footage Released from the Tragic Train Collision in Greece, Death Toll Rises to 32
As a result of the collision between a passenger train and a freight train near the city of Larissa, Greece, the death toll has reached 32, with 85 people injured, reports ERT NEWS.
Earlier, it was reported that the accident occurred on the night of March 1 at the "Evangelismos" station, located more than 200 km northwest of Athens. The passenger train, which was traveling on the Athens-Salonika route, had 350 people on board. The freight train was on the Salonika-Athens route.
In total, there were about 350 passengers on the trains. The governor of Thessaly, Kostas Agorastos, stated that the first and second carriages of the passenger train were completely destroyed. According to him, all passengers have been evacuated, and rescuers are now searching only for the deceased.
