New Earthquake in Turkey Causes Further Destruction
A new earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale has been registered near the Syrian-Turkish border. Local media reports on the incident.
The earthquake occurred at 21:04 according to Armenian time. Turkish media have already reported new destruction in Hatay province following the earthquake. Additionally, European seismologists indicate that the tremors were felt in Lebanon, Syria, Israel, and Cyprus.
It is worth recalling that on February 6 at 05:17, an earthquake was recorded in Turkey's Kahramanmaras province, which led to devastation in several cities. The death toll from that earthquake has exceeded 41,000, and nearly 84,000 buildings have been completely or partially destroyed.
The same earthquake also caused casualties and destruction in Syria, where more than 8,500 deaths have been confirmed, with around 4,000 buildings fully or partially destroyed. The number of aftershocks in the region has surpassed 4,000.
