VIDEO: Citizen Arriving on Istanbul-Yerevan Flight Found with Diamond-like Stones
The Armenian National Revenue Committee (NRC) recently discovered a new case of customs regulation violations at the Western Customs Office.
A citizen arriving in Armenia on the Istanbul-Yerevan flight crossed the "Green Lane" entry line at the NRC's passenger customs control division, which signifies a declaration of no goods subject to customs declaration. Having reasonable suspicions regarding the transport of goods subject to customs declaration, customs officers accompanied the citizen to the "Red Lane" control zone after crossing the exit line of the "Green Lane" customs zone.
The citizen was subjected to customs control, resulting in the discovery of six polyethylene-wrapped packages containing diamond-like stones weighing a total of 14 grams in their pockets. The individual also had one additional package filled with diamond-like stones weighing a total of 29 grams and three other empty packages. The total weight of the discovered diamond-like stones amounted to approximately 43 grams.
A report on the customs violations has been prepared under Article 316 of the Law on Customs Regulation of Armenia. To ensure the further conduct of the administrative proceedings, the materials of the case have been forwarded to the Legal Department of the NRC.
