Lavrov Heads to Baku Today
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is set to travel to Baku today for a two-day visit. This trip is dedicated to the first anniversary of the bilateral cooperation declaration signed on February 22 of last year.
During his visit, Lavrov will be received by Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, has stated that the meetings will address the full range of bilateral issues, as well as current regional and international challenges, with special attention given to the trilateral agreements between the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
On the second day of the visit, Lavrov will speak at the plenary session of the Russian-Azerbaijani expert council. According to the Russian side, it is possible that the parties will discuss the potential for further developments in the Armenian-Azerbaijani dialogue on the normalization of relations, with Moscow's mediation.
It is noteworthy that Lavrov has affirmed Russia's readiness to organize a meeting between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Moscow.
