Nikol Pashinyan Visits Tsitsernakaberd with Senior Officials

On the anniversary of the massacre of Armenians that took place in Sumgait from February 27-29, 1988, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, accompanied by National Assembly President Alen Simonyan, President Vahagn Khachaturyan, and members of the Security Council, visited the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex. This information has been reported by the press service of the National Assembly.

The officials paid tribute to the memory of the victims of this atrocity. They laid wreaths and flowers at the cross-stones dedicated to the memory of Armenians who fell victim to the massacres organized by the Azerbaijani government in Sumgait, Ganja (Kirovabad), and Baku.

From February 26 to 29, 1988, the Azerbaijani authorities began the extermination of the local Armenian population in Sumgait, located 20 kilometers away from Baku, which was accompanied by widespread looting and destruction of Armenian property.
