Iran Ready to Provide Rehabilitation Services for Participants of the 44-Day War

Iran is prepared to offer a phase of rehabilitation services for individuals who sustained disabilities during the 44-day war of 2020. This statement was made by Seyed Soulat Mortazavi, Iran's Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare, during a meeting in Yerevan with Armenia's Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Narek Mkrtchyan. This was reported by the press service of the ministry.

Present at the meeting were the Iranian ambassador to Armenia, deputy ministers from both sides, a parliament member, the head of the Unified Social Service of the ministry, special advisers, and others.

During the meeting, Mortazavi inquired about the number of individuals who acquired disabilities as a result of the 2020 war and the services being offered to them.

Mkrtchyan presented the work being done by Armenia's Social Protection Ministry on issues concerning individuals with disabilities, highlighting the services provided to them.

In this context, the ministers discussed the possibility of establishing an independent living center in Syunik.

Additionally, they agreed to consider opportunities for exchanging experiences in the fields of creating independent living centers and small group homes for individuals with disabilities, pension provision, employment, and social security.

Addressing the necessity to develop collaboration between the two countries regarding educational and vocational guidance programs, the Iranian side proposed establishing joint technical and vocational schools.

Iran provides technical and vocational education to over one million citizens annually in its 13,000 vocational schools; consequently, the possibility of creating a similar workshop in Armenia has been considered.

Seyed Soulat Mortazavi emphasized the importance of uniting efforts in the social protection sector between the two countries. He highlighted that they have substantial resources and are willing to share best practices with Armenia.
