Father Arrested for Sexual Acts Against 9-Year-Old Daughter

A 38-year-old man has been arrested for committing sexual acts against his 9-year-old daughter. This information was reported by the Investigative Committee in response to an inquiry from News.am.

The Investigative Committee stated that a criminal case was initiated on February 23, 2023, at the Vardenis Investigative Department under Part 4 of Article 198 of the RA Criminal Code, and an investigation has commenced.

A request was made by the investigating officer to the supervising prosecutor to initiate public criminal prosecution against the individual, which was granted. The man has been charged under Part 4 of Article 198 of the RA Criminal Code (Violent sexual acts against a person who is vulnerable due to family circumstances or disability) and Point 1 of Part 3 of Article 300 (Producing, distributing, or storing pornographic materials or objects committed by a close relative or person imposed with parental, guardianship, or health care duties over the child).

A request has been submitted to choose pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint for the 38-year-old man, which was approved by the court. The investigation continues, and several expert examinations have been appointed, the Investigative Committee reports.

It is noted that on February 23, police detained a 38-year-old man residing in the Gegharkunik region, who confessed that on February 21, he had committed sexual acts against his 9-year-old daughter in his residence located in the Gegharkunik region.
