Russia on the Main Obstacle to Peace Resolution in Ukraine

Moscow is prepared to achieve the objectives of its special military operation through diplomatic means, stated the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"The main obstacle to peace resolution in Ukraine is the fact that Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the impossibility of negotiations with Vladimir Putin through a decree issued on September 30, 2022. Negotiations are also impossible because Kyiv demands the withdrawal of Russian troops from newly acquired territories—Donbas, Crimea, Zaporizhia, and Kherson," the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement reads.

Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, also assured during a Security Council meeting that Russia has never aimed to destroy Ukraine.

"We have repeatedly stated that we are ready to discuss how we can achieve the goals of the military operation through peaceful means. We will not discuss other issues," the Russian diplomat added.
