Aftershocks in Turkey Exceed 9000 Following Devastating Earthquake
The Turkish Emergency Management Agency has reported that over 44,000 people have died as a result of the earthquakes on February 6, with more than 500,000 individuals evacuated from the disaster zone. So far, 9,136 aftershocks have been recorded.
The Turkish Minister of Environment and Urbanization announced that construction of new homes has begun to replace those destroyed in the southeast region of the country due to the earthquakes.
It is noteworthy that Turkey was again shaken today. Azerbaijani news outlets have reported this development. According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the epicenter of the latest earthquake was located at a depth of 7 km near Bor in Niğde Province. No reports of casualties or damage have been disclosed.
Meanwhile, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre has stated that the epicenter of a 4.9 magnitude earthquake was located at a depth of 10 km, about 40 km away from the city of Aksaray.
