Relatives Attack Each Other with Scissors and a Hammer; One Arrested
One individual has been arrested in connection with a case involving two relatives attacking each other with scissors and a hammer. This information has been reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
The second division of the investigative department for the Center and Norq-Marash administrative regions of Yerevan is conducting necessary procedural and evidentiary actions to clarify the circumstances under which two relatives inflicted injuries on each other during an argument over a domestic issue on February 21, 2023, in one of the addresses on Vardanants Lane in Yerevan.
Under Articles 166, Part 2, Clause 6, and 171, Part 1, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, an investigation has revealed that on February 21, 2023, between 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM, M.F. had gone to the house of his relative R.B. on Vardanants Lane with his wife to clarify details regarding damages caused the day before when R.B.'s son had hit M.F.'s car with another vehicle.
The discussion escalated into a quarrel, during which M.F., under circumstances that are still unclear, used scissors to inflict life-threatening injuries, striking R.B. twice in the left side of his chest, causing life-threatening penetrating injuries. In turn, R.B. struck M.F. on the head with a hammer, causing bodily harm.
On that same day, M.F. was arrested on reasonable suspicion of committing this socially dangerous act. R.B., who was incapacitated due to his injuries and unable to participate in procedural and investigative actions, has been recognized as the victim.
At the scene of the incident, the scissors and hammer, suspected tools used in the crime, were found. To determine the severity of the mutually inflicted injuries, forensic medical examinations have been ordered. The investigator has submitted a motion to the supervising prosecutor to initiate public criminal proceedings against M.F., which has been approved, and charges have been brought against him under Article 166, Part 1, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. M.F. has been remanded in custody as a measure of restraint.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to clarify all circumstances of the case, including providing legal assessment to the actions of the relative who inflicted injuries with the hammer.
Notice: A person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty according to the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia, through a verdict that has entered into legal force.
