Turkish Intelligence Kills Organizer of Istanbul Terror Attack

Turkish intelligence agencies have killed the organizer of the Istanbul terror attack in northern Syria. This information was reported by the Anadolu Agency.

According to the agency, the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) conducted operations to eliminate Halil Menji, a terrorist who planned and actively participated in the attack on Istiklal Street in Istanbul. According to the Turkish intelligence narrative, Menji had guided two participants in the terror attack, Ahlam Albashir Saleh and Bilal Hasani, the latter of whom successfully fled abroad with his help.

"According to MİT's data, Halil Menji was killed on February 22, 2023, in the area of Qamishli," the agency reported.

It is noteworthy that on November 13, 2022, an explosion occurred on Istiklal Street in the center of Istanbul, resulting in the deaths of six people and injuries to 81 others.

A suspect in the attack was arrested, and she confessed to her connections with the Kurdistan Workers' Party, which is banned in Turkey.

Turkey's Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu stated that they have suspicions that orders for the attack were received from the border town of Kobani in Syria, with the perpetrator entering Turkey through the city of Afrin.
