Death Toll from Earthquakes in Turkey Exceeds 44,000

The death toll from devastating earthquakes in Turkey has surpassed 44,000, according to government authorities.

“As per the latest figures, a total of 44,218 citizens have lost their lives due to the earthquakes that struck ten provinces in Turkey. There have also been 9,136 aftershocks following the main tremors,” the Turkish government’s disaster management agency reported.

It is worth noting that the first powerful earthquake, measuring 7.7 in magnitude, occurred in Turkey on February 6 and was felt in neighboring countries as well. The aftershocks continue to be reported.
