Another City in Spain Recognizes the Armenian Genocide
Lirian has become the 40th city in the Kingdom of Spain to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide. All four parties in the city council (Socialist, Compromis, Popular, and Citizens) unanimously acknowledged the resolution proposed by deputy mayor and spokesperson for the Socialist Party (PSOE) Paco Gorrea, which referenced a memorandum from the Ararat Armenian Union.
It is noteworthy that to date, 6 regions and now 40 cities in Spain have recognized the Armenian Genocide. The central government has not yet recognized it, but efforts are being made in that direction.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the recognition process has faced a decline, particularly in Spain, over the last four years. However, the struggle of the Armenian community in Spain to restore historical justice seems to be gaining new momentum.
