Second Earthquake Recorded in Tajikistan
On February 23, new seismic tremors with a magnitude of 5 were registered near Lake Sarez in Tajikistan. This was reported by the press service of Tajikistan's Emergency Situations Committee.
"At 1:01 PM local time (11:01 AM Yerevan time), another earthquake was recorded in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 380 km southeast of Dushanbe city, 86 km west of the Murgab region, and 45 km east of Lake Sarez. The magnitude of the earthquake in the epicentral zone was measured at 5, while in the city of Khorog, it registered 4," the report stated.
According to the country’s border service, no casualties or damages have been reported.
It is noteworthy that a previous earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 occurred in Tajikistan, near the border of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in northwest China.
