Moscow Comments on Egypt's Proposal to Mediate Between Armenia and Azerbaijan

Moscow believes that it is necessary to avoid a repetition of mediation efforts between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin in an interview with TASS.

“The main thing is to avoid a repetition and competition of continuous mediation efforts, reaching cooperation between the parties,” he said, commenting on Egypt’s proposal to mediate between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry welcomed any initiative that could support the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan. Galuzin emphasized that the reconciliation between Baku and Yerevan is based on “trilateral agreements between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.”

It should be reminded that on January 29, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced that Egypt is ready to mediate between Armenia and Azerbaijan to normalize their relations.
