VIDEO. The Universe, Khostup, and Planetary Motion in One Clip
How to film the universe from the planet Earth in a way that conveys the idea that the planet is rotating, not the universe? This was discussed by the Cosmo Deus Armenian Facebook page, which also published a video:
“One needs to have a rotating engine that will spin around the axis of the planet Earth. For this, we take a laser, place it on a platform at a right angle, and direct it towards the North Star (the star at the edge of the ‘Little Bear’ constellation). Since the planet Earth rotates around its axis at a speed of 360 degrees in about 24 hours, we get a rotational speed of 15 degrees per hour by dividing 360 by 24. We provide linear movement with acceleration and deceleration. The circular movement should be linear, with constant acceleration.
After filming for 4 hours, we rush to the camera to stop the recording. Due to unexpectedly strong winds, everything was gathered up, and we rushed home to share the experiment with the public,” it is stated under the publication.
