Turkish Authorities Urge Hatay Residents to Stay Away from the Coast
Turkish authorities have urged residents of Hatay province to stay away from the coast. The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of Turkey issued a warning on Monday about the risk of sea levels rising by half a meter.
“We are advising our citizens, as a precaution, to stay away from the coast due to the risk of sea levels rising by up to 50 cm,” the agency stated in its announcement.
Earlier reports indicated that on February 20, the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations' Seismic Protection Territorial Service recorded a 6.4 magnitude earthquake, which resulted in 6 fatalities and injured at least 700 people. New destruction has been reported.
