Death Toll from Earthquakes in Turkey Exceeds 42,000
The death toll from several earthquakes in Turkey has reached 42,310. This information was reported by the country's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority. According to Life, ‘According to the latest data, 42,310 citizens have died due to the earthquakes that occurred in Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya, and Elazığ provinces, with 448,000 people being displaced,’ the statement said.
It is worth recalling that on February 6, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale hit Turkey, which was felt in neighboring countries. On February 20, additional tremors registering 6.4 in magnitude were recorded near the Syrian border. Tremors were also felt in Egypt, Israel, Cyprus, Lebanon, and Syria.
