Bridges and Roads on the Armenia-Turkey Border Are Ready for Use: Armenian MFA

Bridges and roads located on the Armenia-Turkey border are ready for use. This information was reported by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to a written inquiry from Sputnik Armenia.

"The results of inspections of roads and bridges have shown that they are ready for use," the MFA stated in its response.

The ministry reminded that Ararat Mirzoyan mentioned at a cabinet meeting that an agreement has been reached to expedite the dialogue process and the ongoing efforts to open the final borders.

"Efforts will be made to complete the border crossing process for citizens of third countries, as well as for citizens holding diplomatic passports from Armenia and Turkey," the MFA added.

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated on February 15 that an agreement has been reached with his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, to accelerate the preparation process of infrastructure for the opening of land communications between Armenia and Turkey. He noted that both sides have results from the analysis and inspections of roads and bridges near border crossings.

Following the meeting with Cavusoglu, Mirzoyan announced that Armenia and Turkey have agreed to jointly renovate the Ani Bridge located at the Armenia-Turkey border. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also stated on February 16 that the design project for the Ani Bridge has long been ready.
