SIS Conducts Raids at 'Nor Zovq' Supermarket Chain

The State Revenue Committee of Armenia has announced that its Investigation and Operational-Intelligence Department received operational data regarding the 'Nor Zovq' LLC. According to these reports, the company, utilizing modern information technology, has been providing customers with fiscal receipts that include fiscal numbers, while failing to report a portion of the amounts paid for purchases to the tax authorities.

As a result, the company is hiding its actual sales turnover, not calculating, and therefore not paying significant taxes to the state budget.

To act on the operational information received, a joint operation was designed and implemented by the Investigation and Operational-Intelligence Department of the State Revenue Committee, alongside officers from the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the National Security Service. Various control purchases were carried out between October 17 and October 25, 2022, resulting in a total of 35 controlled purchases.

Out of the controlled purchases conducted, 24 confirmed the operational data collected, while no discrepancies were found in 8 cases. In 3 instances, the company provided internal receipts instead of the required cash register receipts.

Based on the initial data obtained, a preliminary calculation of tax obligations was conducted. In the course of a criminal case initiated by the Investigation Committee's Main Division for Economic Crimes and Smuggling, searches are being conducted in the 'Zovq' supermarket network and other locations relevant to the case, following court orders and within the framework of the law.

Further information on the developments will be provided as it becomes available.
