Parents of Soldiers Who Died in Fire Give Government One Week to Meet

Parents and relatives of soldiers who died in the fire at the barracks of the engineering and sapper platoon stationed in the village of Azat, Gegharkunik Province, have given the government one week to organize a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Defense Minister Suren Papikyan.

According to them, if a meeting is not organized within a week, they will resort to other actions. This was reported by Sputnik Armenia news agency.

It should be noted that the parents of the fallen soldiers had gathered early in the morning first in front of the Ministry of Defense and then in front of the government building. After that, they entered the executive body's building. According to the parents, they were promised a meeting with Pashinyan and Papikyan in a short time.

“A month has passed, and there is no proper investigation. At least they could come and talk to us like normal people, explain what is what, then we wouldn't be so agitated and wouldn't have come here,” said a relative of one of the deceased soldiers.

Recall that on January 19 at around 01:30 AM, a fire broke out at the barracks of the engineering and sapper platoon of the Ministry of Defense’s N military unit located in the village of Azat, Gegharkunik Province. As a result of the fire, 15 soldiers lost their lives, and 7 were injured.
