Armenian Community in Turkey Donates Over 5 Million Lira to Disaster Zone
The Armenian Patriarch of Istanbul, Archbishop Sahak Mashalyan, made a statement to the media following a service at the Armenian Church of St. Vartan in Şişli Feriköy, just before Lent. He expressed his condolences for the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. This was reported by Ermenihaber.
Patriarch Mashalyan emphasized that during these difficult days, humanity must emerge among people. Speaking about sending humanitarian aid to the disaster zone, he highlighted that the Patriarchate collected and dispatched aid on the second day of the disaster.
The Armenian Foundation Union has also transferred 2.5 million lira of assistance to Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority. Additionally, within the framework of the “Turkey is One Heart” initiative organized on the evening of February 15, together with individual donors, the foundations of the Turkish Armenian community raised and donated 3 million lira.
