Azerbaijan is Committing Gas Theft to Create Emergency Situations in Artsakh: Artsakhgas
The Azerbaijani side blew up the only main gas pipeline from Armenia to the Republic of Artsakh in the Zarsli area of the Shushi region on March 8, 2022, and after some time, repaired it without allowing employees of the Artsakhgas company to participate in the repair work.
Samvel Sahakyan, the head of the production and operation site of Artsakhgas in Stepanakert, clarified to Artsakhpress regarding the issue of whether the blockage of the gas pipeline supplying Artsakh from Armenia is also aimed at gas theft.
“After the resumption of the operation of the gas pipeline, it became clear that a lock has been installed on it and an external connection has been made, meaning that gas theft is being carried out. Since December 2022, the gas supply to the Republic of Artsakh has been disrupted by the enemy side 8 times. In addition, during the intervals of blockages and restorations of gas supply, there have been several instances where the gas pipeline has been blocked not completely, but by 50 percent, then the gas supply volume has become 70 percent, 10 percent, and so on. Moreover, such actions have been carried out several times a day or for several days at a time. Overall, from December 12, 2022, to February 13 of this year, about 27 such cases have been recorded,” added our interlocutor, expressing his belief that Azerbaijan is attempting to create emergency situations that could lead to unfortunate incidents and create an atmosphere of fear among the population.
