Photos: Three Armenian Churches Damaged in Turkey Earthquake
The devastating earthquake recorded in Turkey has also damaged three Armenian churches located in the Hatay province, with one completely collapsed.
According to reports from the Armenian Patriarchate of Istanbul, the Church of Saint Gregory the Illuminator in Kirkhan, which was already in a dilapidated state with only its roof having collapsed, has now completely fallen.
Fortunately, the structure of the Church of the Holy Mother of God in the village of Vakif has not suffered major damage, although a section of the interior has been affected, along with a wall beside a nearby spring.
The Church of the Four Holy Youths in Iskenderun (Alexandretta) has also sustained damage to its interior, which is potentially repairable.
It has been reported that cleaning and restoration works are being carried out at the Church of the Holy Mother of God and the Church of the Four Holy Youths.
